Penrith’s VE Street Party & Wartime Weekend
The nation will be joining together on Friday 8th May 2020 to celebrate May Day and also the 75th Anniversary of VE Day – and Penrith will be stepping back in time 80 years to mark the event with.
The historic venue Brougham Hall and its 5th Wartime Weekend are joining forces with Penrith Town Council and the Committee to create a fantastic Bank Holiday of 1940’s entertainment and remembrance.
Across the Country the public holiday has been officially moved to help coincide activities with this momentous date. Penrith’s town centre will be taken back to the era with street activities, vintage vehicle parade, live music, drama performances, street picnic party and much more.
I have been asked to join the team for this event and bring with me not just enthusiasm but experience in public events, especially for Penrith. This is an exciting new event for the town and a great opportunity to enjoy the area from a completely different point of view.
I look forward to not just the fun atmosphere but attendees reminiscing and learning with their community. Imagine learning about the era by being immersed in it all!? Everyone can be part of this event with a little creativity. We would love to help it be fully inclusive and enjoyable for everyone!
Organisations, groups, charities and businesses are being invited to take part as there are many opportunities available for this significant event. The Town Council are really keen for this to be a community event inclusive of all ages, groups and organisations and especially the great collection of businesses in the centre.
For Business Owners, the opportunity to take part can be beneficial professionally but also personally. Raise moral, have fun and get on board!
